Status of Composer Objects
Intended audience: USERS DEVELOPERS ADMINISTRATORS
AO Platform: 4.3
Overview
When creating components, such as Pipelines, Templates, Applications, Pages, etc…, the status of the object is indicated as either Draft or Published:
Draft - this means that the current version of the object being edited hasn’t been published to the AO Platform Server. In other words, the object is not final, nor operational relative to other published objects on the Server.
Published - this means that the user has published the object to the AO Platform Server, and it’s now able to interoperate with other similar published objects. If a user decides to Edit a Published object, the previously Published object will stay Published and operational, but user will receive a new Draft version of the object, allowing user to further edit the object. Once edited, the object will need to be published again, at which point the previously published object will be replaced.

The first item is in Draft, the second item is Published, but a new Draft is being edited, the third/fourth items are Published (with no active Drafts).
Versions
In addition to the Draft and Published state of objects, user can furthermore Save work as a Version of the active object. This can be done manually and serves as a “backup” function during big changes to the object being edited, eg, allowing the user to restore a previous version if required.
A Version of the object is automatically created when the object is published to the AO Platform Server. See Versions and Version History.
