Overview

  • Release 4.5 builds on the previous 4.x release of the AO Platform. We continue to introduce many new features that will make the development and management of solutions much more effortless, productive, and rewarding.

  • The 4.5 release continues with a strong focus on enhancing the Composers that support Easy Answers solution development and a new Agentic AI framework.

  • This topic includes a high-level introduction to the enhancements made during this release.


New in Release for AO Platform

Ontology and MSO Composers

  • Ontology Composer > Settings > LLM Modes - New page with configuration properties for Easy Answers Agent. See Ontology - Settings.

  • Ontology Composer > Settings > Easy Answers Agent - New page with configuration properties for Easy Answers Agent. See Ontology - Settings.

  • Ontology Composer - New Performance Analytics dialogs showing statistics for Easy Answers Questions from multiple sources, including Easy Answers, Agent, and API. Available from the Ontology Options menu. See Performance Analytics.

  • Ontology/MSO Composers - New ER Diagram dialog with ability to show relationships between all MSOs, Search/Filter for specific MSOs/relationships, and Export to SVG/PDF/PNG/JSON. Available from both the Ontology Options menu and the MSO Options menu in the Advanced section. See Viewing ER Diagram.

  • MSO Composer > Bulk Edit Properties - Different options for bulk updating properties across different MSOs, as well as across multiple properties in a single MSO. Available from the MSO Options menu and from the MSO Properties page. See Bulk Edit Properties.

  • MSO Composer > Properties > Characteristics - Ability to configure individual Field Properties, to be considered a Dimension or a Measure, as well as configure how String data types shall be matched during Easy Answers searches for data values. See MSO - Properties.

  • DuckDB Integration - Improved performance when importing Excel files into a database data source. See Step 4 - Tables (or Sheets).

  • MSO Statistic Levels - All Statistics generation has been separated into 3 levels (Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced). This is to allow the generation of only a subset of Statistics in case of huge data volumes and/or big MSOs with hundreds of field properties. See Statistics Levels.

  • Version History - Ability to save the full Ontology configuration as a Version, as well as restore a Version from History. See Ontology - Version History.

  • MSO Property Data Types as Icons - Multiple screens updated to change Data Types to be represented as icons instead of text.

Solution Composer

  • General page - New configurations for Solution Version, and Enable Mobile App. See Solution - General.

  • Version History - Ability to save the Solution configuration as a Version, as well as restore a Version from History. See Solution - Version History.

Quick Insights and Insights Composer

  • Data Tab

    • Refresh Query Metadata By - On the Advanced Tab for Data Selection, new option to select between Default, LLM or Query Execution. See Quick Insights - Data.

  • Model Tab

    • Enhancements to Generalized Regression Quick Insight - support for both linear and non-linear (new) regression models. See Model tab > Generalized Regression.

    • Enhancements to Generalized Correlation Quick Insight - support for new binary, categorical, and continuous data types and combinations of the same. Secondly, Correlations can now be performed for All Correlation fields (shown as a Correlation Matrix) or By Pair (shown as a Forest Plot). Thirdly, a number of UI elements have been updated for added clarity. See Model tab > Generalized Correlation.

    • Enhancements to Causal Inference Quick Insight - support for new Continuous Treatments data type (in addition to existing binary and categorical). Continuous Treatments will generate a Line-based Treatment-Response Curve and a Baseline ATE Curve. Secondly, Causal Inference will also support non-linear modeling. Thirdly, a few configuration properties have been removed to improve usability. See Model tab > Causal Inference.

    • Enhancements to Geospatial Correlation Quick Insight - support for new scalable methods to handle large datasets.

    • Enhancements to Time-Series (Single) Quick Insight - a number of model optimizations that result in narrower bounds for the 95% confidence, variable screening, and test for relevant data, none of which require new configurations. See Model tab > Time-Series - Single.

    • Enhancements to T-Test Quick Insight - New Pooling Mode for: Independent Groups or Related/Dependent Groups. See Model tab > Statistical Tests - Test for Means.

  • Version History tab

Admin Solution

  • Agent pages - New pages for the configuration of all visualization templates available within the Easy Answers Agent, including MicroApp Templates, MicroApp Templates Knowledge Mapping, MicroApp Template Variables, MicroApp Template Variables Knowledge Mapping, and MicroApp Template Data Column Requirement Mapping. See Admin > Agent.

  • Configurations > Statistics page - New page for configuring the mapping between different types of Statistics across the three levels: Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced.

  • Security > Access Control > API Keys - New page to allow the creation of API Keys to be used by 3rd party applications as a way to embed authentication against the AO Platform. Includes creation of API Keys for the Roles of users, Expiry Date, Audit Records, and Usage Report. See Admin > Security, Reports > API Keys, Audit > Admin Audit Events.

  • Documentation > Contextual Documentation: This new page in Admin contains the configuration for all access points and their associated Documentation URLs. See Admin > Documentation.

Other

  • A new term, Semantic SQL, has replaced the previous Ontology/MSO Query terminology in various user screens, downloads, and reports.

  • User menu > User Settings - On the Notifications tab, a new option is available to “Suppress Desktop Notifications from Other Users”. Additional Notification Update types have also been made available in the Suppress Desktop Notifications section, including Dashboard Updates and Agent Chat Updates. See User Settings.

  • Contextual Documentation - All Composers now provides access to documentation directly from the Header section. Click the image-20260304-105848.png icon in the Header section to access documentation for the current Composer.


Documentation

  • Updated the Open Source Library list included with AO Platform and AO Easy Answers as of March 2026.

  • The product documentation can be accessed from both within the software (from the Documentation section in the User Menu), from the App Orchid website (Resources section), or directly from the following URLs:

  • Product documentation now includes a new AI Search feature that will provide a summarization response to the user’s search term(s) based on the App Orchid documentation.

  • The ChatGPT-based AO Knowledge Assistant has been updated. The combined AO Platform and Easy Answers documentation has been used to create a GPT that can generate summarized responses to practically any question about the functionality and use of the AO Platform and Easy Answers solutions. A ChatGPT account is required to use the AO Knowledge Assistant.

Known Issues

  • If using the Apache Druid data source and a Categorical Trait is created for one or more properties, please make sure that the MSO > Settings > Easy Answers > Quantitative Views > Bucketing Type is set to “Value”. The Apache Druid data source does not support “Percentage” as a Bucketing Type.

  • If using the Apache Druid data source and a Sortable Trait is created for one or more properties, a Druid limitation exists that only allows column sorting of time-based properties. See https://druid.apache.org/docs/latest/querying/sql/#order-by.
