MSO - Traits

Intended audience: ANALYSTS DEVELOPERS ADMINISTRATORS

AO Platform: 4.3

Overview

This section contains the configuration of some special characteristics and behaviors that can be added to an MSO, called Traits. This is a very powerful feature of the MSO configuration allowing the AO Platform to automatically generate data and statistics that, in association with the Ontology that the MSO belongs to, can be used for proactive insights as well as resulting in enhanced visualization during ad-hoc querying in the AO Easy Answers - Documentation solution. The number of Traits will grow over time in the AO Platform.

List of Traits

  • Auditable - This trait is used for MSOs with auditable data.

  • Categorical - This trait is used for MSOs with categorical fields.

  • Comparable - This trait is used for MSOs with fields that can be compared.

  • Encryptable - This trait is used for MSOs with sensitive data, eg. passwords, SSN, or other sensitive/user identifiable data.

  • Graph Sourced - This trait is used to represent MSOs sourced through the Ontology graph.

  • Hierarchical - This trait automatically creates hierarchical data structure in the order of the Trait fields selected.

  • Lookup - This trait is used for lookup of MSOs that contain mostly master data for lookup.

  • Multi Groupable - This trait is used to create multiple groups and aggregations for groups to show relationships between groups when using eg. a Sankey chart.

  • Periodic Event - This trait is used for data that comes in at a periodic interval. For example consumption data that is read once every month or bills created every month.

  • Quantitative - This trait automatically creates a balanced Quantitative representation of the value of the Trait fields selected.

  • Sortable - This trait is used for MSOs that need data to be sorted.

  • Spatial - This trait is used for MSOs containing spatial data, for instance, separate field properties with latitude and longitude values. This allows data to be shown on a map.

  • Sporadic Event - This trait is used when the data is timestamped at irregular times. This could be service orders created at different times.

  • Synchronized - This trait is used for data with multiple time series that all need to be aligned (synchronized) based on the same x-axis continuum.

  • Temporal - This trait is used for data where there is a continuous stream of values like an IOT use case where the current power consumption is sent every second. The data may need to be aggregated over time when returned.

  • Trend - This trait is used to configure and show KPI Trend cards in Easy Answers.

  • Unstructured - This trait is used for MSO that features properties holding unstructured content, such as paragraphs of text.

User Actions

  • Add New (+) - adds a new Trait to be created.

  • Expand/Collapse - opens/closes the right-side panel of properties for the Trait selected.

  • Delete - deletes an existing Trait.

Properties

Label

Description

Trait Name ID

An autogenerated, non-changable ID given to the Trait based on its Domain and Name. This property can only be set when the Trait is created - see MSO Traits.

Description

A short description for the Trait. This description that can be used in Search dialogs elsewhere across the AO Platform.

Implementing Class

An implementation class can be added for additional unique functionality.

Trait Field(s)

Populate the fields for the Traits selected to have the AO Platform automatically generate data and statistics that, in association with the Ontology graph, can be used for proactive insights as well as resulting in enhanced visualization during ad-hoc querying in the AO Easy Answers - Documentation solution. See each Trait separately for details of Trait Fields.

CURATION FILTERS

Traits that come with Curation, ie will produce data that will be shown on the Easy Answers Results page can be filtered based on:

  • the number of records available in the output from the Trait.

  • one or more MSO Properties being mentioned in the user’s question.

VARIABLES

Some Traits, like Encryptable and Spatial, have additional Variables section with repeating Variable/Value pairs.
