Overview
The APPLICATION tab controls which applications within a solution page a Role can open. By default, a Role can reach every application in the pages it can access, so this tab works by restriction: you take access away from the applications a Role shouldn't use. It follows the same model as the SOLUTION PAGE tab.
Because applications sit inside solution pages, which sit inside solutions, set up the Role's access on the SOLUTION and SOLUTION PAGE tabs first. The tab then works in two parts. You choose which applications to restrict in the top section, and you set specific Rights for the applications that stay available in the Application Permissions section below.
Assigning Application Permissions
1. Restrict applications
-
Use the two dropdowns at the top to set your scope. From the Solution dropdown pick a Solution, or Any Solution, and from the Solution Page dropdown pick a page within it, or Any Solution Page to apply the restriction more broadly.
-
The left panel lists the Available Applications (the ones a Role can currently reach) and the right panel lists the Restricted Applications. Find an application in Available Applications using the search box or the page controls, then select it.
-
Move it to Restricted Applications with the arrow buttons. The single right arrow (›) moves the application you've selected, and the double right arrow (») moves all of them.
-
To restore access, select an application under Restricted Applications and use the left arrows (‹ or «) to move it back.
2. Set Rights for each application
Use the Application Permissions section at the bottom to control what a Role can do within the applications it can still reach.
-
From the Select Application to add permission dropdown, pick an application and select Add to create a row in the table.
-
In the row, turn each Right on or off with its checkbox. The Rights available depend on the application you selected, so the columns differ from one application to the next. Scroll the table horizontally to see the full set. For example, one application might include a Right such as Advanced Filter.
-
To remove an application's Rights, select its row and choose Delete.
When you have finished, select Save to apply the changes, or Cancel to discard them.
