Best Practice > Updating the Ontology Graph

Intended audience: developers administrators

AO Platform: 4.4

Overview

The Ontology graph is the “database” in the Semantic Layer. It contains the structure and metadata of all data sources connected with the Ontology, enrichments, relationships, etc… It connects to all data sources, and it provides the business interface to solutions, such as Easy Answers. During the implementation phase, the Ontology graph will receive many types of updates, and although most enrichments are automatically updated in the Ontology graph, some updates require a manual update of the Ontology graph.

Why Is This Important

What To Do

After making manual changes to certain objects in the AO Platform, it’s important to subsequently run the Create/Update Graph process found in the Ontology Options menu > Advanced section. Three core areas can be updated in the Ontology graph in case these objects have received updates:

  • MSOs

  • Applications

  • Pipelines

This is generally a very short process.
